CAD Drawings
The Carville manufacturing facility is equipped with the latest Auto CAD and Autodesk Inventor software packages. These drawing packages allow Carville to receive and review customer drawings in an electronic format.
Preferred formats for drawings to Carville are:
- 2D Drawings: .dwg or .pdf format supported with
- 3D Drawings: .stp or .step format, (solid model 214 protocol).
Other Formats:
- .ipt - .iam - .dwf - .dxf - .sat - .prt
- .iges (solid model not surfaces)
- .cat (version 5)
While 3D models can be used to review a customer’s plastic component part requirements, models do not contain all of the information relating to manufacturing tolerances, thread specifications and required surface finishes. The ideal is to supply a complete set of 2D manufacturing drawings.
When a customer does not have manufacturing drawings available, Carville can offer design assistance and drafting services at competitive rates.
