In 1965, Carville developed a new diffusion bonding process which allowed layers of plastic materials to be joined without the use of solvents or adhesives. This new process was used to manufacture flight instrumentation panels for aircraft. The process was further developed in 1980 to produce manifolds for use in the medical sector.
